2014 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up testing in the field surrounding sand. We look for the next generation of GM pengukian early last January, but this time our spies able to catch a glimpse of the interior. We suspect that this particular prototype is a Silverado because the wheels look more like a Chevy design, they seem to be cribbed from Malibu and-bar grille features the signature brand. Sierra will probably have a grill without a bar or bar.
Why It Matters: Although the fluctuations in gas prices and a new crop of smaller cars, better, and more fuel-efficient, full-size trucks still rack up huge amounts of sales. Plus, the Prius will not tow more than a few potted plants, so the truck is still necessary for those with heavy lifting to be done. GM offers the latest in the contested arena will do battle with the likes of ever evolving Ford F-150 and the updated-for-2013 Ram 1500. Furthermore, the next Silverado will take some slack sales of Avalanche soon-to-be-killed.
Platform: The next generation of GM full-size pickup will continue to use body-on-frame construction can be called GMT1000 platform, but they are also expected to lose some serious weight in order to improve fuel economy. The new rig can explain as much as 500 pounds relative to the outgoing Silverado / Sierra, conspired with a heavy dose of aluminum, high strength steel, and plastic if possible.
As for the interior of the truck, adopt a clear view of the more upscale than the current model of the cabin is rather bland. Form more daring and a row of switches on the bottom of the multifunctional center stack is a calling card. What seems more rich material would represent a great improvement over the current Silverado and Sierra plastic low level, although we have to wait until we see and touch their own to make the final call. The touch screen embedded in the top cluster will control the infotainment options, which will likely include packaging MyLink setup-app (called IntelliLink on the “professional level” model that does not wear a bow tie).
Powertrain: GM will bless both the Silverado and Sierra 2014 with minor revisions block V-8 engine, which will receive direct fuel injection and variable valve timing. The new wave of small blocks will feature more power and better fuel economy, and will be paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. (A GM-developed eight-speed automatic should be adopted in the next few years.) As for the Silverado and Sierra six cylinder engine offerings, looking for truck running the old 4.3-liter is replaced by the new GM 3.6. More buyers will be able to choose from the rear-and four-wheel-drive configurations.
Competition: Ford F-150, Nissan Titan, Ram 1500, Toyota Tundra.
Estimated arrival time and pricing: new Silverado and Sierra are expected to arrive mid-2013 as 2014 models. The base price does not have to budge much from the current range, which starts at $ 23,590 and tops out at $ 43,085.
